The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate allegations of gratification within the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) which ensnared the former Secretary General of the MPR RI for the 2019 '2021 period, Ma'ruf Cahyono.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the KPK examined two witnesses at the Red and White Building, Kuningan, South Jakarta. They are Iis Iskandar who works as an entrepreneur and Benzoni, a civil servant at the Secretariat General of the MPR RI.

"The two witnesses were present and investigators studied how the process of procuring goods and services (PBJ) within the Secretariat General of the MPR RI, how the payment was, and how the request for a commitment fee was made," said the KPK spokesman, Budi Prasetyo, in a written statement, Friday, July 4.

Although the results of the examination have not been further detailed, Budi ensured that the statements of the witnesses will help reveal the cases being handled.

Previously, the KPK had named Ma'ruf Cahyono as a suspect in the alleged gratification case related to the procurement project within the MPR RI. He was charged with Article 12B of the Corruption Crime Act, which regulates the acceptance of gratuities by state officials.

Ma'ruf is suspected of receiving gratuities worth around Rp. 17 billion. However, this number can still increase, along with the process of calculating and deepening the statements from witnesses that are being carried out by investigators.

Currently, Ma'ruf has also been prevented from leaving the country by the Directorate General of Immigration at the request of the KPK. The prohibition of traveling abroad is valid for six months since June 10, 2025, to support the smooth running of the investigation process.

The KPK stated that it would continue to dig up information and trace the flow of funds in this case, including investigating other parties suspected of being involved in requests for project fees within the MPR RI.
