JAKARTA - Member of Commission X DPR RI Abdul Fikri Faqih emphasized the urgency of regular rewriting of Indonesian history so that it remains relevant to the dynamics of the times.
According to the man who is familiarly called Fikri in his statement, writing history should not be considered absolute and must be open to various new perspectives.
"There is no absoluteism in the writing of history. Which means, the writing of history must be open to various perspectives, every time must be rewritten, there are changes, there are dynamics, there are geopolitics, different socio-economics," Fikri was quoted as saying by ANTARA.
He said this during a working visit from Commission X of the DPR RI to Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang, Central Java last week.
According to him, because every time there are events, geopolitical, social, and economic dynamics that are different, history needs to be re-recorded so that future generations understand their context in its entirety.

He said rewriting history is also an effort to keep historical literacy alive and relevant to the challenges of the times.

Fikri also reminded the importance of reading history objectively, regardless of personal views of certain figures or events.
"This is not dislike or like, it is more objective," he said.
