BKKBN Warns Of Population Explosion Threats If Alkon Is Not Enough

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN will propose an additional budget for the procurement of contraceptives (alcones) for 2026.

The reason is, with the addition of a budget for the availability of contraceptives, the government can control the population of a balanced population through the revitalization of Family Planning program services (KB).

"We will propose to the President, especially to be willing to pay attention to this issue," Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Culture/BKKBN Budi Setiyono told reporters in Pinang, Tangerang City, Monday, June 30.

"And then block the budget for the supply of contraceptives maybe it can be opened and then the hope is that at least get the same budget as last year's budget," he continued.

He revealed that this year the provision of contraceptive drugs only received Rp200 billion after the blocking of government budget efficiency.

This is proportional to the previous year's budget of IDR 850 billion.

"If we don't provide sufficient contraceptives, our current population structure is relatively flat, it will expand back below," he said.

According to him, the threat from the imbalance of the population structure is currently increasing. So the population in Indonesia has increased again.

Therefore, his party must immediately find alternative solutions to control the potential for this additional population.

One of them, continued Budi, is coordinating with all representative provinces to calculate how much real needs are based on the existing population.

"The number of residents can explode again and that will certainly affect many sectors in the provision of public facilities, for example or also in regional planning or transportation and so on. Therefore, we need to make sure of that," he said.
