Police Are Investigating Allegations Of India's Gang Behind Terror Of Bomb Threats To Saudi Airlines Plane

DELI SERDANG - Police have revealed twice that the perpetrators of the terror threat to the Saudi Airlines plane are suspected of being the same gang from India. Now a joint team from the North Sumatra Police Cyber Police (North Sumatra) will cooperate with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police to investigate the bomb threat case and arrest the perpetrators.

North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General of Police Whisnu Hermawan Februanto said to uncover this case, apart from collaborating with Bareskrim Polri, the North Sumatra Police Cyber Team will cooperate with Polda Metro Jaya and also cross-border security.

"We are still investigating this, our cyber team from the North Sumatra Police, Metro Police and the Cyber Team from Bareskrim are still investigating because the territory is not in Indonesia but abroad. This also requires coordination and collaboration between countries," said Whisnu.

Whisnu also mentioned that there are similarities in the terrorist act of threats against the Saudi Airlines aircraft with different patterns. According to him, the terror act of the first bomb threat experienced by Saudia Airlines SV 5726 carrying 442 Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia on the Jeddah-Jakarta route was carried out using emails sent to the Ministry of Transportation in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the threat of the second bomb that hit the Saudi Airlines SV 5688 aircraft carrying 376 pilgrims from East Java from Jeddah to Surabaya was terrorized via radio voice messages or direct speech.

"There may be similarities, because the information is from Indian territory, but we are still investigating it. The first one is via email and if the second one is via direct speech, this is actually what we are still investigating," he said.

It is known that the Saudi Airlines aircraft with flight number SV 5688 carrying 376 pilgrims from Jeddah Saudi Arabia to Surabaya made an emergency landing at Kualanamu Deli Serdang International Airport, North Sumatra, on Saturday (21/6/2025). The Arabic plane landed an emergency, allegedly receiving a bomb threat.

After sterilizing for approximately six hours, the joint bomb disposal team (Jibom) from the North Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade and Jihandak Kodam I/Bukit Barisan did not find any explosives or bombs on the Saudia Airlines plane.
