Juwita Journalist Killer Sentenced To Life In Prison And Fired From Indonesian Navy

BANJARBARU Military Court I-06 Banjarmasin sentenced TNI Navy soldier, Classi Satu Jumran, in the case of premeditated murder of a young journalist from Banjarbaru, Juwita (23).

"The defendant Classi Satu Jumran was legally and convincingly proven to have committed premeditated murder. Therefore, he was sentenced to a basic sentence in the form of life imprisonment," said Chief Justice, Lt. Col. CHK Arie Fitriansyah, while reading the verdict in the Antasari Courtroom, quoted by ANTARA Monday, June 16.

In addition to the main sentence, the panel of judges imposed an additional sentence in the form of dishonorable dismissal (PTDH) from the military service of the Indonesian Navy, effective since the decision obtained permanent legal force.

The judge also ordered that the victim's belongings be returned to the family, while some of the evidence was confiscated by the state to be destroyed. The cost of the case is borne by the state.

On this decision, the defendant stated that he was still thinking about it with his legal adviser. The panel of judges gave seven days, starting on Tuesday, June 17, to submit an appeal decision or accept the verdict.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Military Authority (Odmil) III-15 Banjarmasin, Lt. Col. CHK Sunandi, stated that he accepted the verdict because it was in accordance with the prosecutor's demands, namely life imprisonment.

Case Chronology

The murder case of juwita journalist occurred on March 22, 2025, on Jalan Trans-Gunung Kupang, Cempaka Village, Banjarbaru. The victim's body was found lying on the side of the road with his motorbike at 15.00 WITA. Initially, the victim's death was suspected to be a single accident.

However, the results of the investigation found irregularities, including bruises on the victim's neck and the disappearance of the victim's cell phone from the scene. These findings lead to allegations of murder.

Juwita is known to work as a journalist in one of the local online media in Banjarbaru and has passed the journalist competency test (UKW) with the qualifications of young journalists.
