Lampung Regional Police Inspects Hundreds Of Homecoming Vehicles

BANDAR LAMPUNG - Lampung Police Traffic Directorate netted hundreds of vehicles suspected of being used for homecoming to the Lampung region and to the island of Java.

"From April 30 to May 2, there were 878 vehicles inspected. And the number of vehicles that were asked to turn around was 142 units," said Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, in Bandarlampung as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 3.

He said the enhanced routine activity (KRYD) in its implementation, the South Lampung Police, a combination of the National Army (TNI), and the Health Service carried out random checks on people who were going to cross from Sumatra Island to Java.

According to him, if people who want to cross are not equipped with a COVID-19 free certificate, they will be asked to make a U-turn.

"For those from Java to Sumatra, there is already an inspection at the checkpoint at Merak Port by the Banten Police," he explained.

The officers themselves, he continued, carried out their duties for 24 hours divided into three teams.

His party has carried out a random antigen rapid test of 233 people and prosecution for illegal travel violations of 30 units of vehicles.

On the other hand, Pandra explained that since the issuance of a Circular Addendum (SE) to the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 No. 13 of 2021 concerning the Elimination of the Idul Fitri 1442 H Homecoming, the Lampung Regional Police have started to enforce regional tightening from April 26 to May 5.

Based on data from ASDP as of Friday, April 30 to Saturday, May 1, there was a surge in passengers from Merak Port, both two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles, and buses bound for Sumatra Island considering the ban on going home from May 6 to May 17.

The police said this initial spike was a sign that many had shifted their homecoming time and had become an evaluation material for the Lampung Regional Police's jurisdiction to anticipate any backflow to Java Island.
