YOGYAKARTA - The Health Office (Dinkes) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) appealed to the public not to panic in responding to the findings of one positive case of COVID-19 resulting from surveillance of influenza like illness (ILI) in the Yogyakarta City area.

"The point is, we urge the public not to panic. The most important thing now is to make Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) a lifestyle," said Head of the DIY Health Office Pembajun Setyaningastutie in Yogyakarta, Thursday, June 12, as reported by Antara.

According to Pembajun, the findings of one case showed no severe symptoms and did not require hospital treatment because the patient's CT (cycle threshold) value was more than 30.

Because the CT value is classified as high and the patient condition is stable, continued Pembajun, the sample was not sent for the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) examination.

"It is not included in 'Whole Genome Sequencing' because it is not considered dangerous," he said.

Pembajun said the patient was only undergoing self-isolation and had been declared cured.

"If COVID-19 is actually still there right now. But it won't cause a problem when we are healthy," he said.

The government, said Pembajun, will not take additional policies such as blocking, banning travel, or screening at stations and public places.

"It doesn't get there. Only, we were entrusted with the leadership, that what's important now is that the community, one, in DIY, is familiar with the name Germas. Second, that was PHBS," he said.

Pembajun also emphasized the readiness of facilities and health workers in DIY if at any time there was an increase in cases.

He said the competence of health workers had been increased since the last pandemic, including the availability of oxygen in all hospitals.

"Friends of health workers, God willing, are ready. All hospitals also have spare oxygen," he said.

He hopes that people will not forget simple habits such as washing their hands after returning from outside the house, wearing masks when sick, and maintaining cleanliness before interacting with their families.

"All these efforts will not work without the cooperation of the government, the community, the private sector, and others. If there is an issue, seek information from agencies that have competence," said Pembajun.

Previously, the Yogyakarta City Health Office found one positive case of COVID-19 based on the results of ILI surveillance which is part of the monitoring system for infectious diseases in the region.

Following these findings, the DIY Regional Government issued Circular Number 440/711/3844 of 2025 concerning Alertness to Increase COVID-19 Cases in DIY.

The circular also regulates the obligation to update data on isolation rooms in hospitals, implement COVID-19 referrals through the SISRUTE system, as well as promotion of the implementation of PHBS in the community.

In addition, the district/city Health Office was asked to ensure the readiness of health facilities according to the applicable COVID-19 handling guidelines.
