Breaking Everest Climbing Record Again, We Rita: The Season Is Not Easy, The Weather Is Hard And Unexpected

JAKARTA - A seasoned guide for climbers of the summit of Mount Everest Sherpa, Rita, has again broken a record to reach the world's roof, in the midst of an uneasy season with harsh and unexpected weather.

We Rita managed to reach the summit of Everest for the 31st time on Tuesday 27 May, breaking her own record as the highest climber to reach the world's highest mountain.

"We Rita (55) guide a group of clients who peaked in the early hours of the morning," according to Seven Summits Treks, based in Kathmandu, citing CNN from The Associated Press May 28.

"He was in good health and came down from the top with other climbers to the base camp," he said.

In an upload on his Instagram account, we Rita wrote this success as another milestone she has reached in her life journey.

"This season is not easy. The harsh and unexpected weather tests every step, strong winds, thick and cold snow that stabs. However, with my extraordinary patience, preparation, and strength of the Sherpa team, we guide a large group of people safely to the summit and back," he wrote.

"Every peak reminds me: patience, trust, and teamwork make impossible," he continued.

Before heading to the mountains, Kami Rita told AP that she would try to climb to the top for the 31st or maybe even the 32nd time. Last year, he made it to the top twice.

A few days earlier, Rita tried climbing to the top, but was forced to come back down due to bad weather.

We Rita first climbed Everest in 1994 and have been traveling for most of the year since then.

He is one of many Sherpa guides whose expertise and skills are very important for the safety and success of foreign climbers who aspire to stand at the top of the mountain as high as 8,849 meters (29,032 feet) every year.

After his first success in 1994, he succeeded in reaching the peak in 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 (twice), 2012, 2013 (twice), 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 (twice), 2021, 2022, 2023 (twice) and 2024 (twice).

His father was one of the first Sherpa mountain guides. Apart from Everest, we Rita have climbed other peaks that are among the highest in the world, including K2, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and Lhotse.

His closest competitor to climbing Mount Everest is fellow guide to Sherpa Pasang Dawa, who has managed to climb the mountain 29 times.

"Thanks to everyone who sent their love and support, your energy is always felt, even above the clouds. And congratulations as much as possible to all climbers who reached their own peak this season. Every mountain you climb is a different story to share," wrote Kami Rita.

It is known, hundreds of climbers have tried climbing Mount Everest from the top side of Nepal in the south of this season, which ends this weekend.

Everest climbs and nearby Himalayan summits were mostly carried out in April and May, with the most favorable weather conditions.

Everest was first climb in 1953 bywajan Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal.
