UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric has rejected accusations that the organization's Israeli organization is incompetent in distributing aid to residents of the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
Earlier on the same day, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said the UN was "failed" by sending more than 400 aid trucks on the Gaza side of the border.
According to him, Israel has opened border doors and provided safe routes for the trucks but the United Nations is "not showing up."
Danon then asked the United Nations to put aside ego and carry out its duties.
Responding to the allegations, Dujarric emphasized "PBB does not remain silent," as do international partners who enter and leave Gaza to carry out humanitarian missions.
"Our colleagues do not remain silent. Our Palestinian counterparts in Gaza live in great despair because they are also wondering where the next food will come from," Dujarric said as quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik/RIA Novosti, Thursday, May 29.
He stressed that humanitarian workers in Gaza continue to "stake lives" to take assistance from the only border open.
However, he said, Israel continues to reject UN requests to coordinate humanitarian aid.

On Monday (26/5), Israel announced the start of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation operation, a US-backed humanitarian aid mechanism and did not use the United Nations aid distribution network.
Under that mechanism, Israeli forces will ensure security in aid areas will be distributed.
A US company will be tasked with transportation and logistics, while an international humanitarian organization will distribute aid directly to residents, according to Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu's office.
