Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday serious work on Russia's proposal for a possible peace deal of war Ukraine was still ongoing and its draft had not yet been submitted.

In a phone call with US President Donald Trump last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and Ukraine would work on a memorandum related to the peace agreement.

That sparked new accusations from Kyiv and the European government that Moscow was stalling for time and had no serious interest in peace.

Russia rejects the allegations and insists they have no interest in delaying the peace process.

"Russian memorandum plans have not yet been submitted," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The work is still ongoing. This is a serious design, a serious draft document that demands careful examination and preparation," he continued.

Peskov said efforts to reach a peace agreement would continue based on the agreement reached in Istanbul, with the exchange of prisoners as the first phase.

Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow would be ready to hand over to Kyiv a draft document outlining the terms for a long-term peace agreement, after the exchange of prisoners agreed in talks in Istanbul was completed.

The prisoner exchange, which involved Russia and Ukraine, which handed over 1,000 people, was completed on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
