JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) stated that they were investigating the alleged use of fake COVID-19 antigen test letters in Cianjur Regency.

Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, KombesErdi A. Chaniago, said that the Cianjur Police immediately moved with the information. The fake letters were allegedly used by a number of illegal travel transport drivers.

"With this information, we conducted an investigation this morning, we'll just wait," said Erdi in Bandung, West Java, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 1.

According to him, the police are still investigating the mode used by the fake letter users.

The fake letter was allegedly used by illegal travel drivers at the border of the Cianjur area to trick officers while checking.

"Yes, it means whether the intention was found (an act against the law) or not, what purpose, if, for example, to get a profit, but this is very dangerous," said Erdi.

The police are currently still investigating the origin or maker of the fake letter so that the illegal travelers can use it.

"We don't know yet (whether to bring the passengers), so we are tracing it," said Erdi.

The letter looks like the original letter issued by the local health office, and is also complete with the signature of the official. The fake letters also have various rates.
