Following the DPRD Petition Rights, Gowa Regent Requests the South Sulawesi Governor to Mediate the Conflict with the DPRD

GOWA - Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang asked the Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman to intervene in mediating the institutional relationship between the Gowa Regency Government (Pemkab) and the Gowa Regency DPRD following the rolling of the right to inquiry in the DPRD.

The application was submitted through a letter number 100.1.4.4/1022/General Section dated July 17, 2026 which was signed directly by the Regent of Gowa.

"In order to maintain the stability of the administration, the continuity of services to the public, and to create harmonious working relationships between the Gowa Regency Government and the Gowa Regency DPRD, we hereby request the willingness of the Governor of South Sulawesi to provide facilitation and conduct mediation on the dynamics of institutional relations that are currently occurring between the Gowa Regency Government and the Gowa Regency DPRD," read the letter quoted Tuesday, July 21.

In the letter, Regent Husniah stated that the relationship between the regional government and the DPRD is a partnership relationship that is located in parallel in the implementation of regional government. Therefore, any dynamics that occur need to be resolved through communication and mechanisms that are in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

The Gowa Regency Government explained that in recent times there have been differences in views and interpretations with the Gowa Regency DPRD regarding a number of government issues and regional policies.

According to the local government, this condition has the potential to affect the effectiveness of government administration, discussion of development programs, implementation of public services, to social and political stability in Gowa Regency.

However, the Gowa Regency Government emphasized that it still respects the implementation of the legislative, budgetary, and oversight functions owned by the DPRD.

"The Gowa Regency Government in principle respects the implementation of the functions of regional regulations, budgets, and oversight of the Gowa Regency DPRD," wrote Regent Husniah in the letter.

However, the implementation of this authority is expected to remain guided by the provisions of laws and regulations, DPRD regulations, the general principles of good governance, as well as the principles of objectivity, proportionality, openness, and legal certainty.

Through mediation facilitated by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, the Gowa Regency Government hopes that institutional communication with the DPRD can run well again.

"We hope that the mediation facilitated by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government can produce a mutual agreement, restore institutional communication, and strengthen the synergy between the Gowa Regency Government and the Gowa Regency DPRD for the implementation of an effective, democratic, and pro-people government," wrote Husniah.

As part of the application, the Gowa Regency Government also attached a brief chronology and supporting documents related to the dynamics of institutional relations between the Gowa Regency Government and the Gowa Regency DPRD.
