Israel's Military Brutal Action Opens Fire Near Diplomat Delegation

JAKARTA - The Israeli military opened fire near a diplomatic delegation that they said deviated from the approved route in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.

Diplomatic sources say EU diplomats are part of the delegation.

The military said the delegation deviated from approved routes and entered unallowed territory for them. Israeli soldiers fired warning shots to keep them away.

No injuries or damage were reported, the Israeli military claimed, reported by Reuters, Wednesday, May 21.

Meanwhile, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said he had heard of the incident that occurred during the visit of international diplomats organized by the Palestinian Authority.

"We really ask Israel to investigate this incident and also hold those responsible for this and all threats to the lives of diplomats," he said.

Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a Spaniard was among the diplomats' groups. The resident was not injured.

"We are currently contacting other affected countries to jointly coordinate a response to what happened, which we strongly condemn," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority's Foreign Ministry said the delegation was carrying out an official mission to observe and assess the humanitarian situation and document the violations that continue to be committed by Israel.

The ministry called Israel's military action a violation of international law.

Footage on Israeli television showed people running into vehicles with diplomatic number plates as shots were heard in the distance.

The Israeli military has killed dozens of Palestinians and destroyed many homes in the West Bank since launching operations in January in the city of Jenin to eradicate militants.
