JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will explore the money found while searching the house of businessman Robert Bonosusatya in Jakarta on May 14.
Investigators suspect the money is related to the case of gratification of metric tons of coal mining by the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari which resulted in a money laundering crime (TPPU). Thus, the confiscation was then carried out during the search.
"It is suspected that there is a connection between the assets and the evidence confiscated and the case in question," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement, Monday, May 19.
"KPK will explore further in its investigation," he continued.
The search was carried out on Wednesday night, May 14 and was completed in the early hours of Thursday, May 15. From this forced effort, money was found with details of Rp788,452.00; 29,100 Singapore dollars; 41,300 US dollars; and 1,045 pounds.
Then 26 documents and six electronic evidence were also found. This finding was obtained not only at Robert's house but also when investigators searched the car parked there.
Previously reported, the KPK continues to investigate allegations of corruption related to coal exports that ensnared Rita Widyasari as the former Regent of Kutai Kartanegara. In fact, non-tax state revenues (PNBP) continue to be investigated.
It is suspected that Rita received ton metric money in every coal mining exploration process. This investigation was carried out by the KPK as an entry point to investigate allegations of money laundering (TPPU).
