TANGERANG - The City Government (Pemkot) of South Tangerang supports strengthening collaboration between academics and social practitioners through the Gala Dinner International Conference organized by the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ).

This event is part of a series of 2025 International Conference of Social Works and Social Sciences (ICSWSS) which took place at the Kasman Singodidemedjo Auditorium, UMJ Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Saturday, May 17, 2025.

This conference was held in collaboration between the Asian & Pacific Islander Social Works Educators Association (APISWEA) and the FISIP UMJ, by presenting academics from 14 countries in various parts of the world.

The Regional Assistant for General Administration for South Tangerang City, Mukoddas Syuhada, said that his party appreciated the UMJ and all participants who had worked together to make the event a success. He said this conference was very relevant to global challenges, especially in the field of social work and social science.

"This Forum is an important forum for experts and practitioners from various countries to discuss critical issues in social and social science work that are closely related to the goals of sustainable development (SDGs) 2030," he said.

Mukoddas added that South Tangerang is now developing into a strategic city, no longer just a buffer zone for Jakarta.

He mentioned that this city has a number of advantages, such as the existence of universities in every sub-district, national science areas such as Puspiptek, as well as the growth of the creative economy ecosystem.

"We hope that this conference will be the beginning of exploration of collaboration between local governments, the academic world and the global community to face social, environmental and economic challenges together for a brighter future," he said.

Deputy Dean I of FISIP UMJ, Lusi Andriyani, also expressed his appreciation for the trust given to UMJ as the host of the international conference. He called this activity an important momentum in encouraging UMJ to become a global campus status.

"I hope we can continue to cooperate with various institutions, both from within and outside the country. Let's walk together towards a better future," said Lusi.

He also expressed his gratitude to the South Tangerang City Government for the support provided for this activity. Lusi hopes that all participants can enjoy the series of events, especially the gala dinner and discussion sessions that have been prepared by the committee.
