Lampung Regional Police said investigators had examined five witnesses regarding the death of two children with the status of brothers and sisters in Pesisir Barat Regency.
"We have asked the West Coast Police and the Sector Police to investigate the results of the crime scene (TKP) for the deaths of the two children. Currently, five witnesses have been examined," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Lampung Police, Kombes Pahala Simanjuntak, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.
He said the police found sharp weapons at the crime scene where the bodies of the two children were found, but it is not yet clear whether the weapons belonged to the victim or the alleged perpetrator of the murder.
"Because of information from the victim's parents, the children travel with sharp weapons. So, that's what is found in the field," he said.
Regarding the possibility of the alleged perpetrator, the team is still working. Pahala said the Lampung Police also sent a team to the West Coast to help uncover the case of the brother's death.
"Later, the team from the Lampung Regional Police will conduct a re-tasking process on the West Coast," he said.
The evidence found at the TKP will be taken to a forensic laboratory for further examination.
"We will also confirm the blood on the sharp weapon and at the crime scene, whether it is only the victim's blood or others, as well as who the sharp weapon belongs to," he said.
The police have also conducted an autopsy on the victim's body and it is known that the head, arms and other body parts have wounds that are suspected of being from sharp weapons.
