Vesak 2025 At Wihara Ekayana Arama: Thousands Of People Present, Government Supports New Building Construction

JAKARTA Thousands of Buddhists packed Wihara Ekayana Arama, Duri Kepa, West Jakarta, on Monday morning, May 12, during the 2025 Tri Suci Vesak Day or 2569 BE celebration. The event was solemn and peaceful, attended by more than 40 Bhikkhu and Bhikhuni, as well as two important figures: Indonesian Minister of Religion Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, H. Rano Karno.

Tri Suci Vesak commemorates three important moments in the life of the Buddha Gautama: the birth of Prince covered, the enlightenment of becoming Buddhist, and Parinibbana or his death.

The chairman of the committee, Andrie Wongso, called this year's celebration a reflection and strengthening commitment to living a peaceful life in diversity. This year's theme, the Spirit of Togetherness for Advanced Indonesia, invites us all to cultivate brotherhood and wisdom as the foundation of peace and progress of the nation," he said.

Andrie added that Vesak 2025 is a momentum to strengthen universal values, strengthen solidarity between believers, and build a collective spirit towards a peaceful and inclusive Indonesia.

The series of events began at 07.30 WIB, starting with the Pindapaha procession, followed by Pujabhakti, the reading of Sila by Bhante Aryamaidri Mahasthavira, and the Dhamma advice by Bhante Dharmavimala Mahathera.

In the midst of the celebration, the committee also announced plans to build a new building for Wihara Ekayana Arama. This project has the full support of the government and will function as a center for spiritual development, education, and social activities for Buddhists in Jakarta and its surroundings.
