Megawati Proposes The Asia Africa Conference Volume II To Discuss Global Conditions And Palestine's Independence

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP for Foreign Affairs of the PDI-P Ahmad Basarah conveyed the idea of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding the need to hold the Volume II Asian Africa Conference (KAA) which discussed global conditions and Palestinian independence.

This was conveyed by Basarah in the opening speech of the discussion "Bung Karno's legacy to Asia-Africa and Global Social Justice" as a commemoration of 70 Years of KAA held by the PDI-P Indonesian History Agency, at the PDIP DPP Office, Saturday, April 26.

"President Megawati conveyed her idea to me so that the leaders of the Asian African nation can now hold a meeting to evaluate the 70th anniversary of KAA's journey," Basarah said.

Basarah assessed that the forum must pay special attention to global issues at this time and to nations that are not yet independent, especially Palestine. He hopes that KAA Volume II will be able to produce monumental decisions in the contextualization of the Bandung Dasa Sila.

"The current geopolitical situation is marked by increased tensions between nations, both bilateral, regional, and international," Basarah explained.

Basarah also hopes that this discussion can recommend solution thinking for peace and social justice.

"Not only for the nations of the world, but also for the people of Indonesia," said Basarah.

For information, this PDIP discussion event is divided into two panels presenting historians, diplomats, and academics.

Discussion of Panel I with the theme Spirit of Bandung and Challenges Asia-Africa Now with speakers Dr. Wildan Sena UGM Historian, I Gusti Wesaka Puja - Executive Director of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliaton, and Ita Fatia Nadia, MA - Historian and Activist of the Women's Movement.

Discussion of Panel II with the theme "Bung Karno's Role and Global Diplomacy Heritage" with speakers Andi Widjajanto Ph.D - Head of the PDI-P's Policy Research and Analysis Agency (BARAK), Dr. Yeremia Lalasang - Lecturer of International Relations FISIP UI, and Dr. Sigit Aris Prasetyo - Diplomat and Author of the World Book in Ganggaman Bung Karno.

Then entered the Public Lecture session with the theme "The Role of Indonesia in the Liberation of Asia-Africa" performed by David van Reybrouck - Belgian Historian, Best Seller Bookwriter "Revolutionary: Indonesia and the Birth of the Modern World".

This event also featured the presentation of art & culture - Usman Hamid and the Blackstones. Present at the opening of the discussion at the DPP Office, a number of central administrators of the PDIP DPP included Ahmad Basarah, Ganjar Pranowo, and Ribka Tjiptaning.
