Gelora Party Prepares Trauma Healing Volunteers For Gaza Victims

JAKARTA - The Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora) expressed its full support for President-elect Prabowo Subianto's plan to accommodate and treat 1,000 injured and traumatized victims of the conflict in Gaza, Palestine.

This support was realized through the launch of the Gelora Volunteer program for Palestine which was specifically prepared to provide trauma healing assistance to the victims.

The chairman of the Gelora Party's DPP Coordinator for Raising, Triwisaksana, said that the volunteers trained would assist the process of psychological recovery of victims of conflict, in addition to medical assistance that had been planned by the government.

Triwisaksana added that the initial volunteer briefing had begun in Jakarta and would be expanded to other regions in Indonesia.

"Today we have started to provide trauma healing volunteers, Gelora Volunteers for Palestine, for the first in Jakarta," said Triwisaksana in a statement received in Jakarta, Friday, April 25.

These volunteers are prepared to have basic psychosocial understanding and are able to communicate with survivors, including in Arabic.

Hazem Anis Matta, Chair of the Jakarta DPW Gelora Party, was appointed as Field Commander for volunteers in the Jakarta area. He said that his multilingual abilities, including Arabic, would greatly help bridge communication in trauma healing services.

Meanwhile, the Gelora Party also appointed psychologist Debby Qurniasasi as the National Coordinator of this program.

Debby emphasized the importance of psychological assistance for the victims so that the recovery process can take place faster and more thoroughly. In the initial briefing held in Jakarta, psychologist resource person Endang Fourianalistyawati, Ph.D. showed a number of simulation-based trauma healing methods that could be used by volunteers according to age and condition of the victim.

Previously, during Ramadan 1446 H, the Gelora Party had also raised solidarity funds for Palestine amounting to IDR 6 billion. The holy month they also declared the 'Moon of Palestinian Solidarity' as a form of real support for the struggle of the Gazan people. The launch of these volunteers is a further step in line with the party's policy direction in supporting Palestine from various possible lines.
