DHF Cases In East Jakarta Increase, City Government Urges Residents To Prevent Self

EAST JAKARTA The East Jakarta City Government appealed to residents to maintain the cleanliness of houses and the environment to prevent the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This appeal was conveyed after 524 cases of dengue fever were found in the East Jakarta area until mid-April 2025.

Head of the East Jakarta Health Sub-dept., Herwin Meifendy, said that people need to take preventive measures independently, one of which is by applying the 3M principle, yaki Draining, Brushing, Closing water reservoirs.

"Residents can also monitor independent larvae to prevent the development of aedes aegypti mosquitoes," said Herwin, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, April 22.

Herwin explained, from January to April 16, 2025, there were 524 cases of dengue with one death toll. The morbid rate reached 15.83 per 100,000 population, and the case fatality rate was 0.19 percent.

The following are the details of dengue cases in 10 sub-districts in East Jakarta:

Kramat Jati: 74 cases (highest)

Cakung: 70 cases

Ciracas: 62 cases

Jatinegara: 61 cases

Pulogadung: 60 cases

Pasar Rebo: 49 cases

Matraman: 47 cases

Cipayung: 39 cases

Duren Sawit: 33 cases

Makassar: 21 cases

In terms of numbers, Kramat Jati is the most. But based on the incident number (Incident Rate), Matraman is the highest," explained Herwin.

However, he mentioned that the total number of dengue cases this year decreased compared to 2024. The increase only occurred in January, where cases rose from 76 in 2024 to 133 in 2025.

For the following months, it has decreased:

February: From 190 cases (2024) to 113 cases (2025)

March: from 504 cases (2024) to 193 cases (2025)

April: From 850 cases (2024) it dropped drastically to 85 cases (2025)

Herwin also reminded that the aedes aegypti mosquito actively bites at 08.00 a.m. and 15.00 p.m. local time, so people need to be extra vigilant at these hours.
