BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police, West Java, have named three suspects in a case of alleged rape of minors in Ciparay District, Bandung Regency.

The Head of the Bandung Police, Kombes Aldi Subartono, explained that the perpetrator had been secured by the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) accompanied by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) to protect the victim.

He explained that of the three suspects who were arrested, one was a child who was facing the law, while the other two suspects were adults who were now being held in the Bandung Police detention room.

Aldi explained that the incident began when the victim, who was still 13 years old, was invited to meet by one of the perpetrators through a short message application conversation on Sunday (28/6) evening in Sapan Village, Sumbersari Village, Ciparay District.

At the location, the victim allegedly experienced obscene acts and was raped alternately by the perpetrators, after being given alcoholic beverages and drugs.

After the family's report was received, residents also helped secure the suspected perpetrators before handing them over to the police for further legal proceedings.

"After receiving a report from the victim's family, we conducted a series of investigations and investigations professionally by prioritizing the principle of child protection," he said.

The police emphasized that the investigation process is still ongoing by completing the case file, examining witnesses and evidence, and coordinating with the public prosecutor before being transferred to the next stage.

The suspects were charged with Article 81 Paragraph (2) of the Child Protection Law Number 35 of 2014, as an amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002.

In addition, the suspect was also charged with Article 415 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison.
