Muhammadiyah Builds Indonesia Through Cross-Sector Collaboration

JAKARTA Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) reiterated his role as a moral and social force in building national civilization. This was conveyed at the Halalbihalal event which took place at the KH Auditorium. Ahmad Azhar Basyir, Cendekia Building, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (UMJ), Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The event, which was held for the second time at UMJ, was attended by Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, a number of ambassadors of friendly countries, as well as national figures. The Chancellor of UMJ, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for PP Muhammadiyah's trust in UMJ as the host of the national event.

"We are honored and proud because this is a form of trust as well as recognition of the role of UMJ in supporting Muhammadiyah's big agendas," said Ma'mun.

In his remarks, the United States Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Mrs. Kamala Shirin Lakhdir, appreciated the Halalbihalal tradition which he said reflected the noble values of the Indonesian people.

"The United States really respects close relations with Islamic organizations like Muhammadiyah. We recognize Muhammadiyah's important role in building an inclusive and peaceful society," said Kamala.

Similarly, the Ambassador of Kenya, HE Mr. Galma Mukhe Boru, also expressed his admiration for the Halalbihalal tradition. He called this tradition a symbol of harmony and a strong spirit of togetherness in Indonesia.

This tradition illustrates the beauty of Eid al-Fitr in rebuilding relations and unity. I hope this spirit strengthens the relationship between Kenya and Indonesia," said Galma.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. (HC) Zulkifli Hasan, SE, MM, emphasized Muhammadiyah's great contribution to the Indonesian people since the early days of independence.

"Since 1901, Muhammadiyah has come with great ideas for the nation, and even played a role in the formulation of the constitution on August 18, 1945. Now, its contribution covers up to 70% in the education, health and social sectors," said Zulkifli.

He also believes that Indonesia will progress if Muhammadiyah continues to be involved in the national development process.

Chairman of the Islamic Association, Dr. KH Jeje Zaenudin, M.Ag., also expressed his appreciation for the speeches at the event. He hopes that the synergy between Islamic organizations will continue to be strengthened for the benefit of the people and the nation.

Halalbihalal ini merupakan agenda tahunan PP Muhammadiyah pasca-Idulfitri. Selain sebagai ajang silaturahmi dan saling memaafkan, kegiatan ini menjadi ruang strategis dalam memunitkan langkah untuk menjalankan program dan kemitraan Muhammadiyah ke depan.

The event was also attended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Chief Justice of KY, representatives of the TNI, ranks of the Minister and Deputy Minister of the Red and White Cabinet, as well as ambassadors from friendly countries such as America, Australia, Ukraine, and Kenya.
