Homecoming Flow 2025 Smoothly, Commission V DPR Values Government Successfully Set Travel Patterns

JAKARTA - Commission V of the DPR appreciates the smooth flow of Eid Al-Fitr 2025 homecoming. The DPR assesses that the government has succeeded in regulating the travel patterns of travelers so as to minimize the potential for congestion and disturbances during the homecoming flow and backflow of Lebaran 2025.

We assess that this year's government managed to hold the 2025 Eid homecoming very well. There is no extraordinary traffic jam experienced by the majority of travelers. And one of the keys to the success of the 2025 Eid Homecoming is the proper arrangement of travel patterns such as work from anywhere (WFA) policies, work from home (WFH) to relatively long Eid leave," said Deputy Chairman of Commission V DPR Syaiful Huda, Wednesday, April 9.

Huda explained that the success of regulating this travel pattern had an impact on the relatively even movement of travelers and was not concentrated on certain days.

According to him, this situation is somewhat different compared to previous years, where the movement of the majority of travelers was concentrated on certain days, triggering long traffic jams for days.

"This year with the WFA policy, the movement of travelers can be started by D-7 so as to reduce congestion at the peak of the homecoming flow which usually occurs in D-4 or D-3 Lebaran," he explained.

"This situation also occurs in the backflow where travelers are not concentrated on certain days," continued Huda.

Huda said that the right travel pattern regulation policy could facilitate traffic control patterns. He considered that various traffic engineering strategies ranging from the implementation of odd-even, contraflow, to one-national methods could be implemented properly.

According to him, the responsiveness of the National Police apparatus is also a positive note because it is able to implement traffic engineering strategies in accordance with field conditions.

"Such as an extension of the national one way strategy which should only be extended on Saturday-Sunday but extended until Monday, because this step makes the strategy implemented really have an impact on decreasing the potential for congestion and minimizing the negative impact of congestion on travelers," he said.

According to him, this year the government's preparations in organizing homecoming and backflow are also relatively more mature.

There are no longer cases of long traffic jams that are complained about by travelers, such as cases of congestion on the Serang toll road towards Merak Port or the trapping of travelers for up to tens of hours during the backflow in Lebaran 2024.

"Traveler services on land, sea, or air are also relatively smooth. There are no stories of travelers trapped in airports or ports for up to tens of hours like the previous year," he said.

Huda also appreciated the decrease in the number of accidents during the homecoming and return of Lebaran. Until Salasa, April 8, yesterday, the National Police Headquarters Dirlantas recorded a decrease in the number of accidents from 3,728 in 2024 to 2,627 in 2025 or a decrease of about 30 percent. The number of victims who died also decreased by 47 percent.

"The decline in the number of accidents is an indicator if the implementation of this year's homecoming is relatively better," he said.
