During The Evacuation Of Victims, Indonesian Army Helicopters Were Shot By KKB Papua

PAPUA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said that the Indonesian Army helicopter which is part of the Nemangkawi Task Force, Tuesday, April 27, was shot while flying while evacuating victims of gunfire in Illaga, Papua.

"It is true that the TNI-AD helicopters have no fatal effect, so they continue to help evacuate the dead and injured. The helicopter is currently in Timika," admits Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Fakhiri.

He said that when he wanted to evacuate the victim of the helicopter gunfight, an armed criminal group (KKB) shot him and hit him at the bottom.

The evacuation process of victims is still ongoing. Currently the victim is in Timika.

The shootout that took place at Lumawi headquarters, Makki Village, North Ilaga District resulted in one Brimob member dying from gunshot wounds.

Two other personnel, namely Ipda Anton Tonapa, suffered gunshot wounds to the back, and Bripka M Syaifudin was shot in the stomach, and both of them have been handled by the medical team at the Timika Hospital.

When asked about the five KKB members who were reported dead, the Papua Police Chief admitted that he was still unable to confirm because he was waiting for a complete report.

"Indeed, there is information that five KKBs died in the firefight, but it has not been confirmed because they are still waiting for reports while members are still doing it in the field," said Inspector General Fakhiri.

The shootout began at around 08.00 WIB in the vicinity of the Lumawi headquarters, Makki village between the Nemangkawi Task Force and the KKB.
