Police Apologize For Allegations Of Violence During Demonstration In Malang, Janju Completely Investigate

JAKARTA - The National Police's Propam Division apologized for acts of violence allegedly committed by the police during the security of the demonstration to revise the TNI Law in Malang, East Java. In fact, investigation steps were taken to thoroughly investigate this matter.

The statement was made by the National Police's Propam Division through the official X account @Divpropam which was uploaded on Monday, March 24

"We apologize for the incident that has occurred. Related to the alleged use of excessive force in Malang," quoted from the account X @Divpropam, Tuesday, March 25.

The investigation steps of the police officers involved were carried out by the East Java Police Propam. Later, members who are proven to have committed violence when securing the demonstration will be firmly punished.

"The Head of Propam Polda East Java has taken firm steps to step down to conduct direct investigations in the field and impose strict sanctions on officers who are proven to have violated," he wrote.

The National Police is said to really appreciate and support the action of expressing opinions or aspirations. However, the people involved are asked to continue to follow the rules so that the situation remains conducive.

"The National Police is committed to continuing to improve the quality of security in every unras activity so that similar incidents do not happen again. Once again, we apologize for this incident," wrote the account.

Meanwhile, the police were highlighted regarding the acts of violence carried out when securing the demonstration of the revision of the TNI Law in Malang, East Java. This is because violence is not only carried out against the mass of action but also against the medical team.

Malang Post LBH Coordinator Daniel Siagian said six demonstrators were arrested, two of whom were minors.

"We received information that at around 19.30 WIB yesterday someone was arrested, after we confirmed two of them were minors, they were still students," he said.

The two minors, he said, had been sent home along with one student.

"The progress has been completed by three, one student and two students," he said.

Meanwhile, three other demonstrators are still undergoing the examination process by investigators at the Malang City Police Headquarters.

"Three more people have not yet, because the police said there was a follow-up examination. The examination is in accordance with the procedure, as well as the progress of deepening and BAP according to all procedures," said Daniel.
