Bakamla RI invited two Indonesian fishermen who accidentally entered the territory of Malaysia illegally/Antara

JAKARTA - Two fishermen from Batam, Riau Islands, who entered Malaysian waters illegally, Abdul Rahman and Gusti Riyandi, were released from all demands by the Neighboring Government.

"It has been agreed and agreed that the two citizens and the boat they brought can be exempted from all demands, by promoting close cooperation and good relations between Indonesia and Malaysia," said the Johor Bahru Consulate General, presented by the Executive of Information, Social and Cultural Functions, Johor Bahru Consulate General, Andita Putri Purnama, was reported by Antara, Monday, April 26.

The Johor Bahru Malaysian Consulate General is handling the release of two traditional fishermen from Batam, Riau Islands, who were arrested by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Tanjung Sedili, Johor, on suspicion of entering Malaysian waters illegally on April 12, 2021.

The Johor Bahru Consulate General succeeded in securing the release of the two citizens through negotiations with the MMEA Headquarters in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and the MMEA Tanjung Sedili, Johor, as well as coordination with Bakamla RI.

He continued, the Johor Bahru Consulate General provided consular assistance to the two citizens from the beginning of the arrest until the end of the handover process from the Johor State MMEA to the Bakamla of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday (26/4).

The two citizens were handed over around Tanjung Stapa, Johor, Malaysia, which is the territorial waters between Indonesia and Malaysia, which was attended directly by Johor State MMEA Director, Laksma Nurul Hizzam bin Zakaria and West Zone Kamla Chief Laksma Hadi Pranoto.

"KJRI Johor Bahru expressed its appreciation to APMM Tanjung Sedili, APMM Headquarters in Putrajaya, and Bakamla RI for their cooperation and assistance in returning the two citizens back to Indonesia," he said.
