Kodam XVII Cenderawasih Calls KKB Attack Kills Six Teachers

JAKARTA - Kodam XVII Cenderawasih revealed that the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) had carried out brutal acts by burning houses inhabited by teachers, resulting in the tragic death of six teachers.

"KKB's actions are truly inhumane, because they kill and burn victims who are in the house alive," said Kapendam XVII Cenderawasih Colonel Inf Chandra Kurniawan, quoting ANTARA, Sunday, March 23.

The sadistic act took place in Anggruk Village, Anggruk District, Yahukimo Regency on March 21. In addition to killing teachers, KKB also damaged and burned school buildings in the area.

"Efforts to evacuate the victims are still ongoing. The TNI-Polri together with the Yahukimo Regional Government continue to try to evacuate victims," added Colonel Inf Chandra. Furthermore, he revealed that the KKB also robbed residents' money.

From the provisional report, the four victims who have been identified are T (guru), F (guru), F (guru), and I (health workers), while the other two victims are still in the process of collecting data.

On Saturday, March 22, 58 teachers and health workers and their families from a number of districts, such as Heryapini, Kosarek, Ubalihi, Nisikni, Walma, and Kabiyanggama, were successfully evacuated using the Aviation Adventist Plane to Wamena.

Currently, the situation in the area is still under intense supervision by security forces to prevent further acts of violence that could threaten public safety.
