JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri, has filed several pretrial lawsuits related to his determination as a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case. Responding to this, Polda Metro Jaya stated that the legal step would not interfere with the investigation process.
"However the pretrial lawsuit that has been filed will not affect the course of the investigation process that we are currently carrying out," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, to reporters, Thursday, March 20.
Regarding the development of the handling, it is said that investigators are still completing the shortcomings of the former case which was previously declared incomplete by the research prosecutor at the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.
In addition, Polda Metro Jaya is also investigating two other alleged criminal acts allegedly committed by Firli Bahuri.
The two allegations in question are the crime of money laundering (TPPU) and the meeting with litigants as stated in Article 36 in conjunction with Article 65 of Law (UU) Number 30 of 2002 as amended by Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"Currently, investigators are collecting evidence related to the alleged criminal act that occurred," said Ade.
Previously, Ade had also stated that his party would always be ready to face Firli Bahuri and his attorney if he wanted to re-test the validity of the suspect determination process.
"If we from the investigative team are always ready and very ready at any time if the suspect or his legal representative wants to test the validity of the investigation and the determination of the suspect that has been carried out by the investigative team through the case title mechanism," he said.
On the other hand, Ade also stated that in handling cases of alleged bribery and gratification, Firli Bahuri as a suspect had been professional without any intervention from any party.
"I ensure that the investigation into the handling of the a quo case runs professionally, transparently and accountably, and is free from any form of intervention or pressure," said Ade.
As a reminder, Firli Bahuri has filed three pretrial lawsuits. In the first pretrial lawsuit, the judge who tried the case decided not to accept it.
