Puan Asks Law Enforcement Officials To Investigate Cannabis Field Findings In Bromo

JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani responded to the discovery of a marijuana field covering an area of 6,000 square meters in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park conservation area (TNBTS), East Java. According to Puan, planting one type of narcotics in the conservation area should not have happened.

"Regarding this, because it was discovered that this should not have happened," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 20.

Puan then asked law enforcement officials to immediately investigate and follow up on the findings of marijuana fields at 59 points in the area. Including, dismantling the syndicate network if later it is found that the cannabis planting is done intentionally.

"I ask law enforcement officials to investigate where to follow up and dismantle it from and why it happened," said Puan.

Commission IV of the DPR also stated that it would immediately summon the Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni to ask for an explanation regarding the findings of the marijuana field in Bromo.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni said that the discovery of the marijuana field was a collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation, in this case the TNBTS Center and the police.

"That the marijuana field is not the work of our National Park friends there. But it is in collaboration with the police to find the fields," Raja Juli said in a written statement, Tuesday, March 18.

Raja Juli said that the discovery of this marijuana field area was carried out using drones and mapping with the police to the Forest Police (Polhut). This also refutes the issue that linked the closure of TNBTS due to the existence of marijuana land.

"The issue is 'oh closed so that the marijuana is not caught'. Precisely with drones, and friends in the National Park who find the point with Polhut. We revoke it and become evidence that we bring to the police," said Raja Juli.
