JAKARTA - The death toll from Israel's latest attack on Wednesday has now reached 20. The Israeli military continued its bombings and issued new orders for residents to flee the combat zone.

A foreign national was killed and four others injured in Israeli airstrikes at the United Nations (UN) complex in central Gaza City on Wednesday, March 19.

Reported by Reuters, the Israeli military denied attacking the United Nations compound in Deir al-Balah. Israel said it was attacking a Hamas location in northern Gaza where they detected preparations to open fire on Israeli territory.

Earlier, Israeli airstrikes killed more than 400 people on Tuesday, March 18, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Israel warned the attack was "new of the beginning".

Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, after 17 months of war that has devastated the enclave into rubble and forced most of its residents to flee several times.

Israel accuses Hamas of using Palestinian civilians as human shields. The Palestinian Islamic group denies the allegations and back accuses Israel of indiscriminately bombing.
