KPK Investigate Request For Rohidin Mersyah Assistance To Mukomuko DPRD Members From The Golkar Party

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the request for assistance submitted by former Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah to members of the Mukomuko DPRD from the Golkar Party. This step was taken by examining the chairman of the Mukomuko DPRD Zamhari on Monday, March 17.

Meanwhile, Zamhari is a regional level legislator from the Golkar Party. He was worked on at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"The witness was investigated by requests for assistance from the suspect RM to members of the DPRD from certain parties," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, March 18.

Tessa has not yet detailed the amount of assistance in question. Including, whether or not the request was related to Rohidin's intention to run for governor again.

Previously reported, the KPK held a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Bengkulu Province on Saturday, November 23 and brought eight people for questioning. Three people were later named as suspects, namely Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah, Bengkulu Provincial Secretary (Sekda) Isnan Fajri and Evrianshah alias Anca who is the Adc Governor of Bengkulu.

When the OTT was carried out, investigators found IDR 7 billion in rupiah currency denominations, US dollars, and Singapore dollars. The extortion and acceptance of gratuities is said to finance Rohidin, who is back running as a candidate for incumbent.

In this case, investigators have confiscated four land and building assets which allegedly belonged to former Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah on February 21. The value is said by the anti-corruption commission to reach Rp4.3 billion.
