Sumatran Tiger Circulating In Fields Of East Aceh Residents

BANDA ACEH - A Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is reportedly roaming the fields of its residents in the Tembolon area, Ujung Karang, Serbajadi District, East Aceh Regency.

Jemali, a resident of Serbajadi, in East Aceh, Monday, said the tiger was first seen by a resident named Ismail on Saturday (15/3) at 16.00 WIB. At that time, Ismail was about to take ISN.

"Initially he saw quiet around the tree. After climbing and picking up his wife, then he was about to get down. Suddenly under the tree, a tiger was seen. Ismail was shocked and did not dare to go down," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 17.

After the tiger went to the bushes, Ismail went down and rushed home. Information on the presence of the tiger was then conveyed to residents, so that they would temporarily not be active in the field.

"If you have to go to the fields, then increase caution because tigers are still in the residents' chili fields. In fact, some residents had recorded videos of wild animals," said Jemali.

Meanwhile, Subdistrict Social Welfare Workers (TKSK) Serbajadi Saddam hoped that the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) would immediately send a team to the location to capture and evacuate the Sumatran tiger to its habitat.

"Previously, residents had also seen tigers roaming East Aceh to Gayo Lues, precisely in Leles Village, Serbajadi District. The community hopes that tigers will be evacuated to their habitat soon, so that unwanted things do not happen," said Saddam.

Head of the Conservation Section Region I BKSDA Aceh Kamarudzaman said his party had forwarded information on the alleged tiger in the residents' fields to the Langsa Conservation Resort.

"We have conveyed information to the team to the Langsa Conservation Resort to immediately handle reports regarding the presence of tigers in the East Aceh residents' gardens," said Kamarudzaman.
