JAKARTA - A Peruvian fisherman who spent 95 days stranded in the Pacific Ocean, is now returning home and meeting his family. He ateiri, birds, and sea turtles for survival.
Maximo Napa departed for fishing from Marcona, a city on the southern coast of Peru, on December 7. He packs food for a two-week trip, but ten days later the storm weather sent his ship off the track and he was adrift in the Pacific Ocean.
His family searched but Peruvian maritime patrols were unable to find him until Wednesday, when Ecuador's fisheries patrol found him about 680 miles (1,094 km) from the country's coast, in severe and critical dehydration.
"I don't want to die," Napa told Reuters after meeting back with his brother, in Paita, near the border with Ecuador.
"I eatiri, burung, dan yang terakhir saya makan adalah turtle," tuturnya.
He admitted that he tried to stay strong thinking about his family, including his two-month-old grandson, despite surviving with the rainwater collected on the boat and running out of food, and finally spending the last 15 days without eating.
"I think about my mother every day," he said.

"I thank God for giving me a second chance. His mother, Elena Castro, told local media that even though his relatives remained optimistic, he began to lose hope.
"I said to God, whether he lives or dies, just bring him back to me, even if it's just to see him," he told Peru TV.
"But my daughters have never lost faith. They kept saying to me: Ma'am, he will come back, he will come back," he said.
Napa is scheduled to undergo further medical examination in Paita before leaving for the south to Lima.
