North Korean state media warned on Sunday that any US military reinforcements in the event of a war would be "dismantled," questioning Washington's deployment of additional stealth fighter jets to Japan earlier this month.
North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) criticized the recent deployment of an F-35B fighter jet squadron by the US to an air base in Iwakuni, Japan, accusing Washington of increasing uncertainty about the occurrence of nuclear warfare.
"The deployment of additional offensive reinforcements to address the possibility on the Korean peninsula every hour increases the uncertainty of true armed conflict and nuclear warfare," KCNA reported, quoted by The Korea Times March 16.
"US reckless measures on military adventures provide the DPRK with reasonable justification and urgent need to provide warnings of tougher actions," he continued.
The DPRK stands for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
"U.S. anti-communist front posts are within the reach of the unbounded monitoring and attacks of DPRK troops," the news agency explained.
"Every US war reinforcements will be completely restrained and eradicated," he said.
Previously, US Marine Corps flight troops based in Japan received their first F-35 deployment from the United States continent on March 8, 2025, quoted from the dvidshub.
Based on the Marine Corps Air Base Yuma, Arizona, the 214 Marine Combat Serang Squadron (VMFA), an F-35B squadron from the Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, was deployed to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, under the Marine Corps Unit Deployment Program to temporarily support MAG-12, the first MAW flight operation in the Indo-Pacific.
VMFA-214, known as Black Sheep, switched to the F-35B platform in March 2022 and was the first F-35 squadron to take part in a rotating and sustainable addition of Marine aviation troops on the Indo-Pacific.
Although MAG-12 currently has two full-operation F-35B squadrons, MAG-12 Commander Colonel Kyle B. Shoop described the addition of US-based F-35 squadrons to the region as unique for operations with joint forces and allies.

"The additional F-35B squad is increasing the contribution of Marine flights to operations in the Indo-Pacific with joint forces, allies, and partners from established and underdeveloped locations for distributed operations," Colonel Shoop said.
"The ability of the F-35B to operate from difficult locations, integrate with a combined network, and provide better awareness of combat fields making it a multiplier of power, ensuring whatever strength is part of the platform remains at the forefront of modern warfare," he said.
