Official Announcement Of TNI Commander: KRI Nanggala-402 Crew Died

BADUNG - As many as 53 crew members of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine were declared dead, said Indonesian National Army (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto during a press conference at the I Ngurah Rai Air Force Base, Badung, Bali, Sunday, April 25.

This submarine carries 53 people consisting of 49 crew members, a unit commander, and three weapons personnel. The ship lost contact when the training commander was about to give the firing authority a torpedo.

In a press conference in Bali, Saturday, April 24, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said the status of KRI Nanggala-402 had become sub-sunk after the search team searched for 72 hours.

Last Saturday was the search for the third day since KRI Nanggala-402 was declared missing contact on Wednesday, April 21 in the early hours of the morning in the waters on the north side of Bali Island.

Saturday morning is also the deadline for life support in the form of oxygen availability for the KRI Nanggala crew, which is 72 hours if the electricity in the ship is completely blackout.
