JAKARTA - Russia has agreed to help the administration of US President Donald Trump communicate with Iran on various issues, including Tehran's nuclear program.
Bloomberg reported, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov insists Russia believes the United States and Iran must resolve all issues through negotiations.
"Moscow is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this," he said.
Trump last month restored a campaign of "maximum pressure" against Iran that included efforts to lower its oil exports to zero to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Iran denies this intention.
Russia strengthened its ties to the Islamic Republic from the start of the Ukraine war, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Iran in January.
