The Body Of A Migrant Worker From Lampung Was Returned From Brunei, A Grieved Family

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) through the Lampung Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI), has repatriated the bodies of Indonesian migrant workers who are Brunei Darussalam. The body of the migrant worker known as Juhri (51) was handed over to his family when he arrived at his hometown in Rejomulyo Village, Palas District, South Lampung, Lampung Province on Sunday, March 2.

The repatriation process began after the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan received a report of Juhri's death at the Raja Istri Pengairan Anak Saleha Hospital (RIPAS), Brunei Darussalam, on February 25, 2025. Juhri was treated for two weeks at the RS RIPAS.

When declared dead, with the permission of the family an autopsy was carried out on the body. As a result, there were no signs of violence, torture or engineering that caused death. Juhri's body purely died of illness.

Juhri's departure is a sorrow for the leader of Hai Hwang Trading Company in Brunei Darussalam. It has been six years since Juhri served in the company until he was placed as a trusted staff. The boss feels lost over the death of the body.

Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding ensures that people who work abroad legally absolutely get social security and protection. Likewise, the late Juhri, before arriving in the country, KemenP2MI ensured that all salaries and rights were not in arrears.

"We will continue to be present to protect and serve migrant workers to ensure that their rights are fulfilled. The assurance provided is expected to be a common understanding of the importance of working abroad legally," Karding said on Monday, March 3 evening.
