Floods In Jakarta Are Increasingly Widespread, Dozens Of RTs Are Submerged Up To 3.7 Meters

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that the flooding that occurred due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River expanded and now the impact on 47 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta (Jaksel) and East Jakarta (Jaktim) areas.

"Data at 08.00 WIB there were 47 RTs affected," said Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin) Mohamad Yohan in his statement, Monday, March 3.

According to him, the floods that occurred in South Jakarta and East Jakarta were due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River after the rain in DKI Jakarta and other areas.

The data for flood-affected areas is as follows;

For South Jakarta, there are 20 RTs from five urban villages that were flooded, namely, West Tanjung Village as many as four RTs, water levels ranging from 80 centimeters to three meters.

Furthermore, Pengadegan Village has one RT with a water level of 1.3 meters. Rawajati Village is in seven RTs of height ranging from one meter to 2.2 meters.

Kelurahan Pejaten Timur tersebar di enam RT dengan ketinggian 3,5 meter sampai 3,7 meter dan Kelurahan Kebon Baru dua RT ketinggian air 60 sentimeter hingga satu meter.

Meanwhile, said Yohan in East Jakarta, there were 27 RTs from six urban villages that were flooded, namely Bidara Cina Village, three RTs of height ranging from 1.6 meters to 1.7 meters.

Kampung Melayu Village totals 11 RTs of water level from 30 centimeters to 1.6 meters. Balekambang Village has three RTs of 1.8 meters to 2.4 meters.

Meanwhile, Cawang Village is located in five RTs and an average water level of 2.7 meters. The Cililitan Village is two RTs of height ranging from one meter to two meters and the Building Village is located in three RTs with an average height of 80 centimeters to two meters.

Previously, Yohan stated that the flood that occurred was caused by the overflow of the Ciliwung River, resulting in flooding in areas along the river.

He explained that the rain that occurred in DKI Jakarta and its surroundings on Sunday (2/3) caused the increase in the Katulampa Dam in Bogor, West Java, to be on alert three or alert at 20.20 WIB.

Then, continued Yohan, on the same day at 20.40 alert two, and at 20.40 WIB the Katulampa Dam became alert one or danger at around 21.30 WIB.

Furthermore, at the Depok Monitoring Post, said Yohan, he was on alert three, alert at 21.40 WIB, on standby at two at 00.00 WIB and on alert one or danger at 00.30 WIB.

"At the Angke Hulu Monitoring Post, we are on standby at three at 23.00 WIB and causing several floods in the DKI Jakarta area," he said.
