DENPASAR - Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) together with the Nature and Humanitarian Lover Foundation released three pariah eagles (Milvus migrants) in Sakti Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency.

Head of the Bali KSDA Center, Ratna Hendratmoko, said the activity was part of efforts to rehabilitate and return wildlife to its natural habitat after going through an intensive care process.

"This activity is carried out as part of efforts to conserve animals and restore eagle populations in the wild, as well as in the context of efforts to protect and rescue protected wildlife," he said, Tuesday, February 25.

The implementation of this activity had previously received approval from the Director-General of KSDAE No.ND.232/KSDAE/KKHSG/KSA.2/02/2025 dated February 18, 2025 regarding the approval of the release of the Paina eagle.

The three eagles that were released consisted of two pariah eagles which were translocation animals from the Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK) in Garut, West Java and another pariah eagle which was the result of the community's handover to the Bali KSDA Hall.

Before being released into the wild, the three eagles had undergone a rehabilitation process at the Nature and Humanitarian Lover Foundation located in Tabanan, Bali.

The process is carried out in order to restore the instincts of wild animals and ensure their condition returns to health and is ready to return to nature.

"Based on the results of observations, these three animals have shown natural hunting behavior and optimal flying ability, so they are declared worthy to be released into the wild," he said.

Ratna Hendratmoko said that this release is not just releasing animals back into nature, but also concrete steps in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem and ensuring the survival of wild animals in their habitat.

The Bali BKSDA also emphasized the importance of maintaining the natural habitat of eagles to remain sustainable.

Therefore, the public is advised not to catch, trade, or maintain protected wildlife without permission, because these actions violate the law and can have a negative impact on species sustainability.

As part of the post-release monitoring effort, the Bali KSDA Hall together with the Nature and Humanitarian Lover Foundation will continue to observe the eagles that are released into the wild, in order to ensure adaptation and development in natural habitats.

The data collected will be used as evaluation material for future conservation efforts.
