Ministry Of Defense: We Are Not At All Intending To Awaken The TNI Functional Dwi System

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) ensures that it has no intention of generating a TNI function dual system such as allowing active military officials to occupy political positions.

"The Ministry of Defense and the TNI has no intention at all to do what the public is worried about, yes, that there is a dwi TNI function or to return the ABRI function," said Head of Bureau (Karo) Infohan Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 25.

According to Frega, the placement of active TNI officials in several sectors generally held by civil society is solely to assist the government's performance in strengthening sovereignty.

He assessed that currently strengthening sovereignty is the concern of the TNI not only in the field of defense but also in food, economy, and culture.

Frega also takes the example in the field of food sovereignty. According to Frega, the TNI also plays a role in strengthening food sovereignty by placing its best people in the country's food sector.

Of course, according to him, the chosen person must have knowledge and experience in the field of food security and territoriality. "Talk about food sovereignty is part of a military defense where there is a request from state institutions that really need certain justice in certain positions," said Frega.

Frega ensures that the placement of active TNI officials in civil office has gone through applicable procedures and its performance will be evaluated objectively.

"We work everything procedurally, and of course through studies, if there is a request from the ministry or from the government," Frega explained.

Previously, Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono alluded to the phenomenon of active TNI officials entering politics and government when meeting with 38 party DPD Chairs at his residence, in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Sunday (23/2).

SBY brought up his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, who had to withdraw from the TNI world to enter the battle for the seat of the Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2016.

Even though he lost the governor election at that time, the man who is familiarly called AHY is now active in politics and currently serves as Chairman of the Democratic Party.
