JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Wamenko Polkam) Lodejwik Freidrich Paulus said the government is drafting regulations for online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) to get holiday allowances (THR) this year.

"The Ministry of Manpower will immediately draw up regulations so that drivers or online motorcycle taxis can get THR rights in accordance with applicable regulations. So it has been prepared," said Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus after holding a coordination meeting to welcome Ramadan 1446 Hijri, in Jakarta, Monday, February 24.

Lodewijk said the discussion on the THR scheme had also been discussed in today's coordination meeting. During the meeting, Lodewijk asked the Ministry of Manpower to ensure that the THR is given right on target to the people who are entitled.

The THR distribution, said Lodewijk, should not be too late so that people can meet their daily needs during the month of Ramadan.

"The principle of seven days before Lebaran is expected that this THR can be accepted by the works of entrepreneurs spread across Indonesia," he said.

Previously, Wamenaker Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan assessed that the demands of taxi and ojol drivers regarding the granting of religious THR rights were reasonable and rational.

"The demands of ojol friends, in our opinion, are natural, logical and rational things," said Wamenaker Noel.

The provision of religious THR for application-based service workers was previously one of the discussions between the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation on Friday (24/1).

At that time, the Indonesian Minister of Manpower Yassierli said that the protection for workers on application-based services was part of the Astacita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

According to him, ojol drivers are workers who are entitled to decent wages and welfare, as regulated in Law (UU) Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower.

"Pun kalau kita mengarakan negara-negara Eropa, kawan-kawandriverini adalah pekerja. Mengaku pada International Labor Organization (ILO), posisi driver juga sebagai pekerja. Maka dari itu, harus mendapat THR, tidak bisa tidak tidak, tegas dia.

Noel said that his party had held discussions with applicators regarding the granting of this religious THR right, regardless of whether it was given the name bonus, assistance, and so on.

"Yesterday we said about the THR, it's still a technical matter, whether it's in the form of bonuses, holiday bonuses, etc. And the desire (in the form of bonuses) is in the form of money, the value is more pronounced for ojol friends," he said.

"I have discussed with the applicator. They have prepared it, but it's just technical. Hopefully, they can give the best for the driver," he added.
