Minister Of Education And Technology Asks Universities Not Only To Focus On Practical And Applied Sciences

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto asked vocational universities not only to focus on practical and applied science, but also to provide understanding of science and technology.

"Pak Prabowo's goal is to make our country developed and the quality of our country like other developed countries. So, our children can live in peace, comfort, and welfare," Brian said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 22.

Minister Brian explained that the understanding of science and technology aims to enable vocational college graduates to overcome various challenges in the industrial world.

He underlined that this could not be achieved without a strong industry to produce a high selling power.

According to Minister Brian, the key to strong and quality production is capital.

"The Ministry of Education and Technology will strengthen the independence of the nation, quality employment opportunities, encourage the growth of the creative industry, create strong human resources, science and technology, and downstream based on natural resources," he said.

Minister Brian revealed that polytechnics can be one of the strengths to be able to build resources through quality education according to the Asta Cita Presiden RI Prabowo Subianto.

"This is of course necessary to achieve economic success based on Pancasila and the independence of the Indonesian nation," he said.

Therefore, Minister Brian invites the university's senate to oversee each campus to be involved in a strategic role, in order to free Indonesia from the trap of middle income traps and produce large industries.
