The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Is Considered An Expert To Be Able To Detain Hasto Despite Proposing Pretrial At The South Jakarta District Court For The Second Time

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is said to be able to detain the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto who was questioned as a suspect today, Thursday, February 20. The pretrial is said to have been unable to thwart the forced attempt.

This was conveyed by the Professor of Andalas University, Asrinaldi, who said that there was no legal regulation stating that the suspect was filing a pretrial that could not be detained. Thus, firmness must be taken by the anti-corruption commission as law enforcement officers.

"He (KPK, ed) must be above all groups and groups like that. And we hope that if it is checked today, yes, if so far it is considered too procrastinating, yes, the KPK can hold Hasto like that," Asrinaldi told reporters, Thursday, February 20.

Asrinaldi also saw Hasto's statement which seemed to be a victim of politics was inappropriate. Because, his name has appeared in the trial.

Thus, Hasto should not have to act like a victim or playing victim in the bribery case for the interim replacement management (PAW) of members of the DPR RI and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared him. The politician must be held accountable for his actions.

"Then in the context of the evidence that has been collected by the KPK, then it is associated that tends to be political, I think in the context of the first pretrial, it has been described, it is legal, that even the judge does not have a political element, this continues the previous case," said Asrinaldi.

"And that has been mentioned by Hasto, his name as a suspect has appeared, not suddenly, because it was mentioned by the defendant who had been decided, it was impossible for it to suddenly appear," he continued.

Asrinaldi said that the KPK should no longer hesitate to take action against Hasto. This institution must have the courage to act.

"So I think there must also be the KPK's courage to facilitate this matter and in the sense that it does not continue to have polemics, yes, if there is a subjective element that this can indeed be detained, just hold it," he said.

Previously reported, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto fulfilled the summons of KPK investigators as a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement process (PAW) for members of the DPR RI and the obstruction of the investigation. He stated that he was ready to be detained.

"Yes, (if detained) he is ready physically and mentally," said Hasto at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 20.

The anti-corruption commission developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
