Minister Of Finance Clarifies Budget Efficiency In DPR: No Honorary Layoffs

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani clarified a number of issues related to the results of the reconstruction of the ministry and institution's budget efficiency. One of them is related to the news of termination of employment (PHK) for honorary workers.

This was conveyed together with the parliamentary leadership including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi in the House of Representatives Commission III Meeting Room, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, February 14.

"Pak Dasco and the leadership of the DPR, we will present several explanations related to the current development of news that is almost emerging in the community. The first is related to employment or layoffs in ministries and institutions," Sri Mulyani said at the press conference.

"There are no layoffs of honorary staff within ministries and institutions," he continued.

Sri Mulyani said that the efficiency of the budget in ministries or institutions will not have an impact on honorary staff. So, he asked for further studies to be carried out so as not to affect public services.

"For this reason, further research will be carried out so that the efficiency of these ministries and institutions does not affect spending for honorary staff and continues to carry out according to the president's direction, namely good public services," he said.

As previously reported, all commissions in the Indonesian House of Representatives held a joint meeting with ministries and institutions from Wednesday, February 12 to Thursday, February 13. It discusses the reconstruction of the 2025 budget efficiency.

From a number of presentations from ministries and institutions, not a few have complained that this budget cut has an impact on public services.

One of them has an impact on mass layoffs of honorary employees. Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, said that his party had heard many complaints from ministries and institutions regarding the impact of budget efficiency.

"I know and can enter and suggest from several institutions, some are here, if then there is efficiency, we can only pay driver salaries, OB, this is 4 months remaining," said Rifqi.
