Jamin Palace No Layoffs At Government Agencies Due To Budget Efficiency

Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi stated that there was no wave of termination of employment in government agencies due to the budget efficiency policy set by President Prabowo Subianto.

He explained that contract employees whose contracts were not extended were not due to efficiency, but because projects involving them had been completed.

"If people have finished their contracts, don't say it's layoffs because of efficiency. If people finish the project and then it's not continued because it's already finished. Without an efficiency policy, people can complete their contracts. If they lay off because of efficiency, it's guaranteed that it doesn't exist," Hasan Nasbi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 13.

Hasan Nasbi also asked the public not to equate employee work contracts that were not extended by termination of employee employment (PHK) because the two were different.

Hasan said the efficiency policy set by President Prabowo in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 concerning the Expenditure Efficiency of the State Budget and the 2025 APBD aims to shift the budget which originally financed unproductive activities to programs that were more beneficial for the welfare of the people.

"As is often reminded by the President that every rupiah that the people must use is used as much as possible for the benefit of the people," Hasan said.

He explained that this efficiency was also an option taken by the government so that the budget used was really measurable and had an impact on the community.

This step is the President's effort to realize Astacita to achieve the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045.

The Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) also emphasized that if there are government agencies that delete or reduce public services due to this efficiency, it means that the agency misinterpreted the President's efficiency order.

"Some institutions have misinterpreted the Presidential Instruction. They don't sacrifice 'fat spending', but they sacrifice basic services. That's a misinterpretation," Hasan said.

The "fat spending" called Hasan refers to non-substantial shopping posts and tends to be wasteful, including the purchase of office stationery, ceremonial activities, study and analysis, and official travel.

"Clear (clearly, ed.) the President's message is that those who do not have an impact (impact, red) are large towards the community," he said.

Hasan said President Prabowo had directly inspected state expenditure posts using the state budget. From the sweep, the President found non-substantial state expenditures, which even if eliminated would not be a problem.

"The president examined in detail the shopping units in the APBN and even jokingly said he examined it up to the ninth unit. So, it was very detailed and then found fats in our APBN," he said.
