JAKARTA - Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi dismissed the assumption that the budget efficiency of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) was 50 percent feared to reduce the accuracy of weather information and earthquake detection equipment.
Hasan's statement was in response to the impact of budget efficiency on BMKG as a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's direction in the Presidential Instruction of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2025 and the Letter of the Minister of Finance Number S-37/MK.02/2025.
"It is not true that the BMKG budget was affected by 50 percent efficiency. Please check again with the BMKG for the latest data," Hasan said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 12.
Hasan explained that budget efficiency was carried out to reduce the burden on the state, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction, which emphasized that the state budget must be focused on the interests of the people.
He also emphasized that efficiency is carried out in matters that are considered "fat" and waste the posture of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
"The efficiency that is in accordance with President Prabowo's direction is to eliminate 'faty' in our APBN spending, but not reduce 'ots'. Government staff and government capabilities will not be reduced due to this 'fat' reduction," Hasan said.
Hasan ensured that there were a number of things that were not affected by the efficiency of the state budget in ministries and institutions, all of which were related to productivity and services for the community.
In terms of supporting productivity, the government ensures that employee salaries and basic service for employees will not be affected by efficiency.
