JAKARTA - The Director General (Dirjen) of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) Hilmar Farid stated that the Indonesian History Dictionary Volume I will be rearranged this year. This is an effort to perfect the dictionary that is currently circulating in the community and causes polemic.

Hilmar said that to compile this dictionary, his party would form a new team. Later, this team will invite various organizations including Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) to Muhammadiyah as an effort to improve.

"We will involve friends, especially from large organizations such as NU, Muhammadiyah to make sure there are no mistakes. So this is really his intention to correct mistakes," Hilmar said in an online press conference on Tuesday, April 20.

In fact, in order to prevent mistakes again, later the Ministry of Education and Culture will directly invite the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board in its preparation. "And we hope that later in this collaboration, all mistakes can be corrected as small as that," he explained.

So, with the increasing number of parties invited to join in working on this dictionary, all historical information can be presented more accurately. In the future, this book can become a guide for students in studying the history of the nation.

"We want to look to the future, correct and ensure that all the information provided is accurate and can actually be used as a guide for our students," he said.

Adding Hilmar, editor of Indonesian History Dictionary Susanto Zuhdi, the new team will indeed be formed. The reason is that the old team has been disbanded.

"The members have disbanded. Maybe we will create a new team with input from various elements. If it is made again I am ready (to be involved, ed)," he said.

Previously reported, the Indonesian History Dictionary Volume I became a polemic because it did not include the name of the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Kiai Haji Hasyim Asy'ari but instead contained the names of communist figures such as DN Aidit and Darsono Notosudirjo.

It's just that, Kemendikbud emphasized that this dictionary was never officially published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The unofficial document is a soft copy or softcopy and is still being refined.

After all, the Indonesian History Dictionary was compiled in 2017 or before Nadiem Makarim served as Minister of Education and Culture. In addition, this dictionary has not been perfected, so there are no plans for publication.
