Budget Efficiency At Ministries To Institutions, Cak Imin: Bitter Pills, But This Must Be

TANGERANG - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin assessed that the efficiency of the budget in ministries or institutions should not reduce performance. Because for him, this is done to reduce budget waste.

"This efficiency must be carried out as part of a budget waste that is not right on target," said Cak Imin to reporters at the Ciater Health Center, Serpong, South Tangerang (Tangsel), Monday, February 10.

Cak Imin admitted that the efficiency of this budget was protested by many related to the policy.

However, according to him, policies must still be carried out because they are considered beneficial for the Indonesian state.

"Everyone must protest, but this must be. It's like me, the bitter pill. The bitter pill at the beginning must be useful for the country. Everyone must accept it and I am the main supporter of efficiency. But I think it's good for us to be efficient in moving forward," he explained.

Cak Imin explained that the budget efficiency policy would later be reviewed. He also supports the policy of the Minister of Finance so that those that are not too priority, are cut.

"So after the efficiency of the cut, there will be a review of the name. Which review is really a priority requirement. That's why all the discussions in the DPR are in the hold (hold), so that there is a revision first, we will check again which one is really vital," he said.

Previously, the government carried out massive budget efficiency in the 2025 State Budget. This was done after President Prabowo Subianto issued Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget and APBD.

Through these instructions, Prabowo plans to make massive savings for this year's state budget of up to IDR 306.69 trillion. Around IDR 256.1 trillion of which will be cut from spending on Ministries and Institutions.

Following up on Prabowo's instructions, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati recently released a circular letter S-37/MK.02/2025. The letter was distributed on January 24, 2025 to all Ministers and all Heads of Institutions. The letter also targets the National Police Chief, the Attorney General, to the head of the state institution's secretariat.
