PKB Legislator Asks Government To Lower Oil Prices Ahead Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives from the PKB faction, Nasim Khan asked the government to immediately lower the price of Minyita which is still high ahead of Ramadan. As of almost eight months the price of Oilita is still above the Highest Retail Price (HET) of Rp. 15,700 per liter. In fact, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted the national average price of Oilita per third week January 2025 of Rp. 17,502 per liter. The need for Ramadan is usually increasing. If the price of Oilita which is one of the needs experiences an increase, this will certainly burden the community. So this must be addressed immediately," said Nasim Khan, Saturday, January 25. Based on data from the Ministry of Trade's Market Monitoring and Basic Needs Monitoring System (Kemendag) as of January 23, 2024, the national average property of Oilita is Rp. 17,400 per liter. The price of Oilita has increased since June 2024 by 7.41 percent. Nasim said, this increase did not occur in areas that are difficult to reach but also happened in big cities in Indonesia. Never mind in the regions of Indonesia, cities in West Java, Central Java and East Java also experienced an increase in the price of Oilita, said the East Java electoral district PKB legislator. Nasim said, his party had directly reviewed the markets and held dialogues with Oilita sellers in grocery stores and also had direct dialogue with buyers in East Java. They complained because the price of Oilita is still high. In fact, I have seen the price of Oilita reaching Rp 19 thousand per liter,' said Nasim.

According to Nasim, the price of Oilita follows the reference of the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 18 of 2024 concerning Mining for Packaged Palm Oil and People's Cooking Oil Governance which rigidly regulates the retail boundaries of cooking oil sold in the market. He considered that the government should immediately conduct inspections of the price of Oilita from distributors to grocery stores. He also appealed to all parties to sit together to discuss why the price of Oilita is still high. "Next week, Commission VI will summon the Ministry of Trade and hold hearings to find out what the problem is. Is it because of the distribution process, the regulatory system or what? I hope this can be discussed clearly and there is a solution. Poor society," concluded Nasim.
