JAKARTA - Iran uncovered a new underground Navy (AL) missile base in an undisclosed location, inaugurated directly by the commander of the country's elite forces.

The facility was inaugurated by the Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami two days before Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States.

State television showed Major General Salami visiting the location of the secret base.

"We assure Iran's great nation. Their youth are able to come out with respect and win from the battle at sea against major and small enemies," Major General Salami said.

State television said the base was built at a depth of 500 meters somewhere in the Gulf, showing a long-line tunnel called a new version of the Taregh Class speedboat that could evade radar and could launch cruise missiles.

Major General Salami reiterated that the AL IRGC has significantly increased the range, speed, precision, and destructive power of its ships and naval missiles.

"Currently, the IRGC Navy is capable of building various layers of defense," he explained, noting that they will continue to improve the advanced IRGC equipment and systems in the future, quoted from IRNA.

Regarding the readiness of the IRGC's combat and defense capabilities, Major General Salam said, the AL IRGC warship has excellent marine navigation capabilities and is ready to safeguard Iran's important interests.

Major General Salami said the base was one of several underground bases to launch warships, missile launchers to mine propagators for war is rarely far away.
